Two Years in the Melting Pot

From the "Two Years in the Melting Pot", the writer spend two years in living and studying in the US. At the begining, he decided not to speak Chinese so that can improve his English. But when the other chinese students invited him to visit their apartment, and speak Chinese, the writer really feltcomfortble and warm.
I think I can understand his feeling. Because now I am in the US, and my roomates both from the US, sometimes we are difficult to find many topics to talk, everyone we just talk about the class time, and some interesting things, and I have to speak English. But if I stay with my Chinese friends. even though we come from different cities, but we can talk about many things, such as food, courseand etc. And when we are talking, we like to use our own language, because it make us feel comfortable, warm and more interesting. I think because we both staied in another country, and everyclass, every homwork we have to use English, so during our talking we do not like to use English.
I think for us, it is difficult to make friends with Americans, because there is a big different in our culture and American culture. And also a big different in language. So it is difficult to make friends. So you can find, even though we are studying abroad, but during our daily we want to stay with Chinese people.

WORDS:
Furious: very angry;done with a lot of energy, effort, or speed:
Blurred: unclear in shape, or making it difficult to see shapes;difficult to remember or understand clearly
Preeminent: much more important, more powerful, or better than any others of its kind

Nonverbal Communication

In our daily life, we use language to communicate with the other people. We cannot live with out the language. But in our daily life, we are not just using spoken language, also the nonverbal communication also has positive effect on our communicate.
For me, I think the body language is also very popular in the life. Such as we can use hand to express the opinions. In China, when we are talking, there is not too much body language, I think because I can use Chinese to explain my meanings so that we do not need much body language. But when I speak English, I must use much body language, I think because my English is not very well, but I like the feeling when I use my body language, especially use the hand. Also if I talk with my friends, we will use the eye contact to exchange our opinions, I think that is an amazing thing! When we are talking we just use eyes to explain our meaning or tell her I got a good idea, it is really interesting.
After I arrived the US, I found the Americans like to body language, especially to use their hands. But in China,we do not use much body language during our talking. I think because we have different cultures and different languages.
But in my opinions, I really like use body languages, because it makes me can explain my opinions more clear.

the First Four Minutes

About the First Four Minutes, I noticed that the first impression for other people is really important, it will effect the relationships of us.

For me, if I meet someone first I will portray as a peaceful girl, it is not the real me. I think just my friends and family can know the real face of me. Because of this when I meet someone first I will not speak too much with them so that someone will think I am a peaceful girl, but actually not. If I meet my friends or my family I will speak too much with them.

In my opinions, I can not use my real face to meet someone at the first time. Because I do not know they are good or bad, and I cannot judge if they can be my friends or not. So I could not use my real face to meet them. I think it is a good way to protect us. So my friends always said you have a big different between you face the stranger and face friends or family.

Different Languages

Everyone has different ways to use language. So the different people use the same language also have a big different. From the article " Mother Tongue" by Amy Tan, I begun to notice that problem.
In China, the young people use a different language with their parents. For example, if yong people want to say" It feels good!",they will use "Gan Jiao" not "Gan Jue". In Chinese, "Gan Jue" means"feeling". But if their parents want to express the same meaning, they will use "Gan Jue" not "Gan Jiao". In my opinion, the reason why the young people prefer to use a different pronunciation in spoken language is that they want to their language become more and more interesting. But for their parents, they just want to express the their opinions. So sometimes, the parents cannot understand what did young people say.
The different culture also has an effect on language. So the language is becoming more and more international. For example, many years ago, if we want to say"I like it" in Chinese, we will use "Xi Huan" . It means "Like". But now, the young people prefer to use "Meng" not "Xi Huan". Actually, in Chinese "Meng" does not means "Like". "Meng" is from Japanese, because Japanese animation become more and more popular and this word is always used in animation. So because of the different culture, the language is changed.
Even though the same person use language in different situations, it will also be different. For example, now I am writing an essay for my English class, if I want to say" I want to sleep" with my friends, I will use "wanna" not "want to". But if I use it in my essay, I will choose "want to". So the language is also changed  by different situations.
In conclusion, language is changed by different users, cultures and situations. Because of them reasons, language is developing and will become more and more diversity.
